I've been using the molded Styrofoam blocks that come packed around various household or computer items as floating islands. The latest was black with holes in the bottom, perfect for two pots of annuals from the local nursery's half-off sale. I

Still have work to do on hiding the liner around the edges. Just went through a massive algae bloom. You can see white streaks on the liner and rocks from the algae I pulled out but missed cleaning up. Ordered an Algae Witch which couldn't help

 fluffy brown floating slime

periodically I get poufs of fluffy brown stuff floating in my pond. When I net them out, they turn to slime. The last couple days, there have been lots; most of the time there aren't any. What the heck are they? My pond looks good otherwis

I've never done this, since my ponds are so tiny, but someone has asked me about it for her lake and I suggested something like a hula hoop to hold plants together. Then she asked what keeps them afloat..........and I hadn't thought about that!

I spent last weekend redoing the pools at the top of my falls and installing two new skippies behind it. It turned out swimmingly ;) The pools at the top of the falls used to be 2 separate small deep pools with the pump hoses running directly

I hope someone has some advice for me. We put in a pond last July. It is approx. 2000 gallons. We have a skimmer and a waterfall with a good pump. We put rock in it to cover the liner and added dry bacteria, de-clorinator and barley extract. M
