I went and got some apples from a local orchard to make Linda Lou's WONDERFUL Apple Pie Jam, but am wondering if I could grate the apples on the largest holes of my grater instead of chopping them up with a knife? Thanks, Edie Follow-

Well, went to Apple Hill (near Placeville, Ca) took the grand sons (3 and 1 1/2). Came home with lots of apples: Canned applesauce apple cranberry chutney apple butter apples in the freezer for apple pie Also canned Anne's salsa

I found this recipe at cooks.com(no tomato amounts given, though it's in the title!). Is there enough vinegar in this recipe, as it is written (without the tomatoes), for this recipe to be canned in a water bath? If so, for how long, in pint jars?

Soon I'll be canning applesauce and pears. I'd like to find a way to use up the peelings/cores. There's a thread on making fruit syrup, which I followed when I canned peaches. But I had no luck getting the peach skin & pit concoction to thicken up
