Here are some pictures taken a couple of days ago of a Chilean Fire Tree(Proteaceae) at my parents house in Kenmore, Washington. I grew this and one other in the yard from seed from a big plant @ the U.W. Arboretum. The pics are a bit redundant. T

 Hardiness, siting of Berberis darwinii
I should have checked better, I just bought Berberis darwinii which has nice golden flowers in spring and very prickly small leaves and spines that make it deer proof, and edible 1/2
